Diphthongs and Triphthongs

Hello!
Here we meet again for our final work of Phonetics and Phonology course for these second term.

READ ALL BEFORE YOU BEGIN
1. Create a new post in your blog with the title: Diphthongs and Triphthongs.

2. Define the following terms in your post:

DIPHTHONG:

PROPER DIPHTHONG:

IMPROPER DIPHTHONG:

TRIPHTHONG:

2. View this video:



3. Make a list of 10 proper diphthongs, 10 improper diphthongs, 10 triphthongs, and 10 words that are not diphthongs nor triphthongs.

4. Make a a game using the list you did in 3 and post the game in your blog.

b. Give a name to the quiz.

c. Give a name to each category (Proper Diphthongs, Improper Diphthongs, Triphthongs, Other words).

d. Under each category, paste your list.

e.Write a password protect.

f. Click on the gear (Embed into a blog).

g. Copy the code and paste it in your blog.



5. Write a reflection about today's class.

6. Publish your Post.

MINIMAL PAIRS

Welcome once more to your self learning "Phonetics and Phonology" program. Today we will talk about minimal pairs.

As usual, please read carefully the instructions and create only ONE blog entry or Post per class. If there is an * in the instruction number, it means that you should do something on your blog.

READ ALL BEFORE DOING ANYTHING

*1. Title of your post: Minimal Pairs. Answer the following questions in your blog.

*4. Why do you think minimal pairs are important?

5. Time to play. Select one of these games to identify the minimal pairs. SAY THE MINIMAL PAIRS AS YOU READ THEM.

Play only for 10 minutes. Use this online stopwatch to guide your time.

*6. Select 4 minimal pairs that you found difficult or that you don't know the meaning. Find out their meaning and record it with vocaroo. Embed your recordings in your blog and under them put a sentence to understand their meaning. Follow this example:

Pair 1: Fair - Fear


The group has achieved fair and equal representation for all its members.

I fear the increasing unemployment.

Pair 2: Xxxx - Yyyy
